Alternative medicine is growing in popularity in France, but its integration into the healthcare system is often unclear. How can this sector be structured to make it more accessible and effective? That's the challenge set by Liberlo, an innovative startup that aims to transform access to alternative healthcare practices.

Introducing Liberlo

Founded in 2019 , in Lyon and co-founded by Vincent Gal and Kevin Berthon, Liberlo was born of the desire to structure the alternative medicine sector in France. Faced with growing demand for these alternative practices, the company has set itself the mission of facilitating patient access to certified practitioners, while ensuring simplified care management.

The Liberlo platform brings together over 1,200 certified alternative practitioners, offering patients easy access to validated professionals. It also offers a third-party payment option, a major innovation in this sector, enabling patients to benefit from care without advance payment. This feature, developed in partnership with the APICIL Group, was successfully tested in January 2023 with osteopaths in Lyon, and is currently being extended to other specialties and regions.

What sets Liberlo apart from its competitors is its rigorous approach to practitioner certification and its strategic partnership with major players in the health insurance sector. By integrating third-party payment, Liberlo simplifies the care process for patients and promotes greater recognition of alternative medicine in the French healthcare system.

Liberlo: growth and development

Since its creation, Liberlo has experienced significant growth, expanding its network to over 1,200 certified practitioners and 13,000 beneficiaries. The platform has facilitated over 50,000 appointments, testifying to its effectiveness and growing adoption by users.

Among Liberlo's notable successes, the introduction of third-party payment for alternative medicine is a major step forward. This system, unprecedented in this field, facilitates access to care for patients, and could serve as a model for the integration of alternative practices into the traditional care pathway.

Liberlo is planning a major overhaul of its platform for spring 2025, incorporating feedback from practitioners and offering a mobile application for enhanced accessibility. The company is also planning to strengthen its teams in Lyon and Paris, with fifteen recruitments planned in IT, sales, support and marketing.

Liberlo: financial performance

In November 2024, Liberlo raised €2.2 million from its long-standing partner, the APICIL Group. The aim of this investment is to accelerate the platform's development and extend the direct billing service across France.

Liberlo forecasts annual recurring revenue (ARR) of 250,000 euros for 2024, mainly generated by practitioner subscriptions. Precise information on the company's valuation is not publicly available.

With a target of 5,000 certified practitioners by 2025, Liberlo is positioning itself to become France's leading platform for alternative medicine. The extension of the third-party payment system and partnerships with mutual insurance companies should reinforce the accessibility and recognition of these practices within the healthcare system.
