In the ever-changing world of cybersecurity, some companies stand out for their innovation and dazzling growth. Filigran, a French nugget, is a striking example. How has this start-up managed to seduce giants like the FBI and the European Commission in such a short space of time? We take a look at the secrets behind its success.

Filigran in brief

Founded in October 2022 by Samuel Hassine and Julien Richard, Filigran specializes in open source cybersecurity solutions. Based in Asnières-sur-Seine, it develops innovative platforms such as OpenCTI, dedicated to cyberthreat intelligence management, and OpenBAS, an attack simulation platform. These tools enable organizations to better understand and anticipate threats, thereby reinforcing their security posture.

What sets Filigran apart from its competitors is its open, collaborative approach. Drawing on an active community, it continually enriches its solutions to meet the evolving needs of the market. This strategy has won it the trust of prestigious entities such as the FBI, the European Commission, Hermès, Marriott, Airbus and the New York State Cyber Command.

Filigran: financial performance 2024

The year 2024 was marked by exceptional growth for Filigran. In February, the company raised €15 million in a Series A financing round, led by US fund Accel Partners, with the participation of Moonfire and Motier Ventures. This round of financing enabled Filigran to double its workforce from 20 to 41 employees in six months, and to expand its customer base to over 4,200 users, including around 100 paying customers.

In October 2024, Filigran continued its expansion by raising a further $35 million in a Series B round, led by Insight Partners, with the support of historic investors such as Accel and Moonfire. This capital injection brings the total funds raised to $60 million in less than two years, reflecting investors' confidence in the company's potential.

Thanks to this financing, Filigran achieved its annual targets as early as the third quarter of 2024, with recurring revenues of €6 million. This exceptional performance testifies to the growing adoption of its solutions on the international market.

Filigran: news and plans for 2025

Filigran has no intention of stopping there. The company plans to launch two new innovative solutions in 2025: a real-time risk analysis platform and a dynamic decoy deployment solution. These tools will aim to further strengthen organizations' ability to anticipate and counter cyberthreats.

At the same time, Filigran plans to accelerate its international expansion, particularly in the United States and the Asia-Pacific region. To support this growth, the company plans to recruit some sixty new talents by the end of 2025, bringing its workforce to over 140 employees.

With a clear vision and assertive ambitions, Filigran is establishing itself as a key player in global cybersecurity. Its commitment to innovation and open collaboration puts it in a strategic position to meet tomorrow's security challenges.
